Decide if you agree with Equality’s pursuit for knowledge and joy over sacrifice and oppression for “the common good” of his society.
Week 3-Sometimes, those in power have more sinister plans for the subjects they rule. Improving the quality of life or allowing positive change to happen is not what those in power have in mind. What does Equality finally understand about his society when the Council threatens to destroy his invention?

Our final formal assessment for this unit is an essay, but this time it does more than potentially benefit your grade. The following essay prompt and guidelines are those created yearly by the Ayn Rand Institute for their essay contest. The prizes include scholarship money for the winning applicants. Everyone must submit their essay for a final grade and I would love for all NOVA scholars to submit their musings to the contest committee, as well! As we read the novella together keep these questions in mind:
